The backbone of our federal system is the courts. The United States Courts are broken down into several levels and divisions. All original trials are filed and heard in the United States District Courts. Each state has at least one district court. Often times states have more than one district, as does Georgia. Appeals are heard by the United States Courts of Appeal for the various circuits, depending on the state of origination of the suit. The final recourse is the United States Supreme Court, the ultimate arbiter and interpreter of our constitution. Below you will find links to Federal courts sitting in Georgia and the several states.
